STANDARDIZED TESTS REQUIRED FOR FOREIGN   UNIVERSITIES.

There is no doubt that FOREIGN Universities are one of the best ranked Universities in the world. Indian Universities are a bit low in the global rankings with the INDIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (BOMBAY), which is the best in India, holding the 172nd Rank in the Q.S. Global Universities ranking. That is why many people aim for these colleges. Therefore you might be one of those people who are aiming for those top universities.

However in order to get into these, there are several Standardized tests that you must appear for. So here is the list of some of these exams that you must give for admissions abroad.

1. SCHOLASTIC APTITUDE TEST(SAT)

This is probably the most popular exam that students appear for to get themselves into the world's top universities which include Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Harvard University, Stanford University, UC Berkely etc. This exam consists only of 2 Subjects which are- Maths and  English. Maths has two sections - Calculator and No Calculator while English covers several sections which include Reading, Writing, Comprehension and Essay(optional but recommended). The level of Maths is very easy as compared to JEE level Maths. English can cause difficulty if you are not fluent and proficient in it.

2. AMERICAN COLLEGE TESTING(ACT)

ACT is just a substitute or alternate for the SAT and covers the same syllabus. However, the format of questions is different and often students prefer it over the SAT. Some students appear for both SAT and ACT but most universities consider only one of these. The big point that distinguishes it from SAT is that it also contains a science section.

3. TEST OF ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE(TOEFL)

This is an obligatory test for the students of non-english speaking countries. It is required to prove your English proficiency. It consists of only English questions that are divided into reading, writing, listening and speaking sections. If you have a decent hold over English and if you are fairly fluent then this test might not be a hard one for you.

4. INTERNATIONAL ENGLISH  LANGUAGE TESTING SYSTEM (IELTS)

Just like SAT and ACT  are alternates of each other TOEFL and IELTS are substitutes. You can give either of the two and the universities also accept one of the two so its completely your choice. The subject is English and has similar sections.

  1. SAT subject tests are also mandatory for some universities like MIT. Along with that, AP exams are also recommended (not mandatory) for acceptance in most of the top universities

  We have seen a couple of syllabus reductions from the 2 major councils of India, CBSE and CICSE. However there are some more things that are being considered by the boards during these times of crisis.
