Andaman and Nicobar islands get High-speed Internet !! e-commerce and tourism to get a boost

Andaman and Nicobar islands to get good speed internet

Hon'ble Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi announced an early Independence day gift for Andaman and Nicobar islands. According to reports, The tourism hub of India will no longer have to struggle with a slow speed internet connection. A 2,312 km long optic fiber Submarine cable has been established connecting the islands to Chennai which will assist in a better speed of internet as well as broadband connection.

What is "Submarine Optic fibre Cable"?

Optic fibre cables are made up of one or more optical fibres which are quite similar to electric fibres used to transmit light. Optical fibres are made by drawing out glass and their thickness is just close to a HUMAN HAIR! Optical fibres are often used to make cables for long-distance transmissions as their jacket is made up of strong material that can resist high magnitudes of pressure.

Difference between Normal wires and Optic fibre cables

Optical fibre is preferred due to its higher flexibility and the capacity to be easily drawn into wires.
They are commonly used for telecommunication and internet signal transmissions.

Andaman and Nicobar Islands are one of the largest tourist destinations in our country. If the beautiful islands and glorious sceneries are complemented with a good speed internet connection, that will be definitely a gift. Tourists and residents have often complained about call-drops and lack of connectivity but this decision will definitely impact this problem positively. This work was inaugurated in 2018 and even during the pandemic, the people associated with it have worked seamlessly. "Kudos to all of these people"- quoted our prime minister.
